The dredging of Kramat Jaya connecting channel on Jalan Kramat Jaya Raya, Tugu Utara Urban Village, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta, is appreciated by residents.

One of Tugu Utara Urban Village residents, Lina Amelia (46) hopes the dredging will prevent inundation especially during the heavy rain.

Meanwhile, Koja Sub-district's Water Resource Implementer Unit Head, Slamet Riyanto, admitted Kramat Jaya connecting channel dredging becomes North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim's attention.
"The dredging starts from five-ways intersection of Tugu Utara Urban Village Heading to Lagoa connecting channel," he admitted.
Riyanto explained Kramat Jaya connecting channel with 1.95 meter width and 1.9 meter height will be dredged along two kilometers. There are six personnel and mini excavator deployed to dredge the channel.
"The mud then is transported by using two dump trucks. The dredging has been running from December and now the progress is reaching 25 percent," he explained.
He hopes the dredging can minimize the flood or inundation potential especially in front of Jakarta Islamic Center (JIC) and Ditjen Hubla Complex.
